North Carolina voters who opt to vote by mail will be able to track their ballots with BallotTrax. State election officials expect to launch the system Sept. 11. By QCity Metro Staff September 11, 2020 North Carolina voters who vote by mail will soon be able to track their ballots, a move to ensure voter confidence during this year’s general election. BallotTrax is expected to launch today, according to N.C. Board of Elections public information officer Patrick Gannon. How does it work? Think of mail ballot tracking similar to locating your package from Amazon. Voters can sign up for text, email and phone notifications alerting them to the status of their ballot, regardless if you vote by mail or ballot drop box. The system shows when a ballot is printed, sent, delivered and, most importantly, officially tabulated. On your voter dashboard, you’ll see one of two statuses – Requested, when an absentee request form...

LEBANON, Tenn. (WTVF) — People in Wilson County choosing to vote absentee can track the progress of their ballot through a new system. The Tennessee Secretary of State's Division of Elections already provides an online option that allows voters to check their registration status and confirm their ballot has been received, but the Wilson County Election Commission has taken it a step further with BallotTrax....

As Trump questions, the integrity of mail-in voting, state, and local officials are turning to ballot-tracking software to give voters more confidence in the process. As election officials around the country race to ramp up mail-in voting ahead of this November's general elections, they're taking a number of steps to ensure their systems run efficiently and securely. Yet even in the best-run systems, there are occasional glitches. In Denver County in 2010, for instance, a county official became alarmed when she received a notification that she should have received her ballot in the mail -- but it never came. She reached out to Steve Olsen, whose software development firm worked with the city of Denver in 2009 to build a ballot-tracking system. "We went with her to the USPS bulk mail processing center, and after a very informative tour and discussion, we were told a pallet of ballots...

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Between the coronavirus and the controversy over delays in mail delivery, some voters have concerns about going to the polls and about putting absentee ballots in the mail this year. Aaron Sellers, a spokesman for the Franklin County Board of Elections, explained they are now receiving 3,000 to 5,000 applications for absentee ballots each day. At that rate, they expect to send out about 200,000 absentee ballots on October 6th, the first day of early voting in Ohio. Each absentee ballot has a bar code, and cameras in the mail handling system scan the bar codes to track the movement of the ballots. 2020 Ohio General and Presidential Election guide Sellers says voters can sign up for a service called BallotTrax that will provide push alerts notifying voters where their ballot is in the process. “This is certainly something that will help voter’s peace of mind knowing...

As many states rush to implement new ways to protect voters from COVID-19 exposure, they’re turning to systems to help ensure people’s access to the ballot doesn’t get lost in the mail. [Source Image: greyj/iStock, ONYXprj/iStock] By Talib Visram9 minute Read As part of a string of voting laws signed by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam in mid-April, the state became the 34th in the country whose residents may vote by mail without having to prove that they couldn’t vote in person. Of the remaining 16 states that don’t grant that right, governors and election officials in 11 allowed exceptions during the primaries on account of the pandemic—and if the coronavirus is still lingering in November, might be expected to continue those exceptions. “Whether they want to or not, all states are going to see a dramatic surge in mail voting this year because of the pandemic,” says Wendy...
